About Steve Scheckman

Steve Scheckman has practiced law for 45 years and for almost 30 years has been an active judicial and legal ethics practitioner and is the leading lawyer in Louisiana providing advice and counsel to judges concerning judicial ethics matters and the defense of judicial discipline complaints before the Judiciary Commission and the Louisiana Supreme Court. Steve served as the first Special Counsel (Disciplinary Counsel) appointed and employed full-time by the Judiciary Commission of Louisiana (1994-2008) and then as the Deputy Administrator of the New York State Commission on Judicial Conduct (2008-2009). For many years he has also provided advice and counsel in legal ethics matters and the defense of attorney discipline matters before the Office of Disciplinary Counsel, the Attorney Disciplinary Board and the Louisiana Supreme Court.

  • Mr. Scheckman also previously served as the first General Counsel appointed and employed by the New Orleans Ethics Review Board (2009-2014) and as the first legal counsel appointed by the Jefferson Parish Ethics & Compliance Commission (2012-2017).
